directions: imagine that you are a reporter during the civil war. in this assignment you will write from your perspective. your newspaper will contain four articles specified below. you need to write the articles as if the events you described just happened a few days ago. include pictures, captions, political cartoons that go along with each article. they must be relevant to the time period and the article.

article 1 and 2-a news story: you will describe a major event from the war. give specific details form the event and make sure that you include all the important information about the event so that the readers will understand what led up to this key moment. make your two stories related together.
example: you could write about the battle of antietam for article one and about the emancipation proclamation for article 2 as they are connected.
example: you could write about the battle of chattanooga for article one and sherman’s march to the sea as article two as they are connected.

article 3-biography: this article will be about a real person in the civil war. presidents and generals are all acceptable. include details in their background such as were they were born, where they were educated, how they got involved in the civil war, and the impact they had on the war.
article 4-editorial: this is an editorial, which means it is your opinion. pick a topic relating to the civil war and persuade your reader to feel the same as you. include historical facts to support your opinion.
