hinduism: Has no founder, but is a collection of different beliefs.

sacred text include the Vedas

Holy place is the river Ganges

followers are hindus

important beliefs are that truth is eternal. Brahman is Truth and Reality. The Vedas are the ultimate authority. Everyone should strive to achieve dharma. Individual souls are immortal. The goal of the individual soul is moksha.

practices include rituals such as puja or worship and recitations, japa, meditation, family-oriented rites of passage, annual festivals, and occasional pilgrimages.

buddhism: Siddhartha Gautama founder,

followers are buddhists

holy places are Lumbini, Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, and Kushinagar

some important beliefs are that existence is suffering (dukhka), suffering has a cause, nirvana is an end of suffering, and there is a path to the ending of sufferings.

important practices are taking refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha, observance of moral precepts, monasticism, meditation, and the cultivation of the Paramitas (perfections, or virtues).

Christianity: the religion was revealed to prophet Jesus,

sacred text is the Bible

Followers are Christians

Sephoria, The River Jordan, Cave dwelling of John the Baptist.  Syria.  Galilee, Sea of Galilee.

important belief is to believe in God and that Jesus was his son. The death, descent into hell, resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christ's second coming, the Day of Judgement and salvation of the faithful.

important practices include baptism, the Eucharist, prayer, confession, confirmation, burial rites, marriage rites and the religious education of children.

Islam: The religion was revealed to Muhammad (pbuh),

sacred text is the Qur'an

Follower are Muslims

Holy places include the city of Madina and Makkah, Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem  

important belief is that there is only one God and prophet Muhammad is the last prophet. There will be a day of judgement, Hell and Heavens.

important practice is to pray 5 times a day (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan. Perform Pilgrim (Hajj) once in a lifetime if possible. Give charity and take care of the poor in the society (Zakah).
