Finally the pursuit of happiness means that people can do whatever makes them happy as long as it is legal.

The Declaration of Independence was written by the five man committee which includes, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston in Philadelphia. The purpose of the writing the Declaration of Independence was to break free from England. It was necessary because it proposed a new theory of government and separated the 13 colonies from England's laws, which allowed them to be a free country.
