Why did it take long to grant women suffrage?

The only people who could write the legislation were men who did not want to women to have any power. The unspoken rules of British society still expected women not to participate in public life in a visible way.

puritans we all know as were a relgion to purify the cahtlic church some of there practices were good and they did ways some relgions couldnbt but some ways wern't that good like trying to turn people into their relgion which did spark alot of mass hate to them overall there netrual and did have a semi good cause.
