What surprised you the most about life in Ancient Rome?

The thing that surprised me most was that life in Ancient Rome people used to wash their clothes in urine (I’m not lying look it up) and that they used to have the gladiator fight in the roman colosseums and the fact that they either did it to entertain the king of his subjects, it was a brutal anyway :(
