How is trading of goods part of today’s society? what products do we import and why? what products to we export and why?

Trading goods is part of today's society because we trade food, electronics, etc. with U.S. allies such as Great Britain. We export foods across the world so either we can get taxes for other things and for other countries to have different types of food from U.S. an example of importing would be the IPhone, they are made in China, and are imported back to the U.S. to be sold.

 What products do we import and why? the products do we import are usually ones that we cant make/grow ourselves because the circumstances like whether. What products to we export and why? we export products because people need them in other places and will pay for them and the products we export are usually not found in the places that we export them to
