Read the letter. dear mom and dad, last night, i took part in a battle that just might change the war for us. right before midnight, planes began taking off, delivering supplies and soldiers to our destination. as a paratrooper i was being sent to capture key locations from the enemy. since it was dark and the weather wasn't the greatest, my pilot dropped me a mile away from my target in normandy. i had to mix in with an unfamiliar unit, but we were still able to complete our mission successfully. i don't think the enemies even saw us coming! a letter like this likely would have been written by a u. s. soldier in what war?
