How did the gi bill of rights soldiers returning home from war after world war 2?

It enabled them to get education, all types of it, college and high schools and even lower if it had been necessary. It also enabled them to purchase homes with low interest rates or to open up businesses easier, or anything that could help them as a sign of thanks for their participation in the war.
