Think of it this way. On a coordinate plane if you write out all your values you have (this is an example) such as (0,0) (0,2) (1,2) and want to dilate it by a scale factor of 4 you are multiplying each value meaning x + y by positive 4.

These would become my new coordinates:

(0*4, 0*4) = (0,0)

(0*4, 2*4) = (0, 8)

(1*4, 2*4) = (2, 8)

In this case the same thing is happening to the figure meaning it is getting larger instead of smaller since the scale factor is not negative. I can't see the rest of the answers to give you the answer you're looking for but I hope that this helps you look at dilating and scale factor differently rather than something more complex :)
