The ink drops have a mass m = 1.00×10−11 kg each and leave the nozzle and travel horizontally toward the paper at velocity v = 16.0 m/s . The drops pass through a charging unit that gives each drop a positive charge q by causing it to lose some electrons. The drops then pass between parallel deflecting plates of length D0 = 2.50 cm , where there is a uniform vertical electric field with magnitude E = 8.40×104 N/C If a drop is to be deflected a distance d = 0.350 mm by the time it reaches the end of the deflection plate, what magnitude of charge q must be given to the drop? Assume that the density of the ink drop is 1000 kg/m3 , and ignore the effects of gravity.

Light from the sun reaches the earth in 8.3 minutes. the velocity is 3.00 x 10^8 m/s. how far is earth from the sun? i know how to get to d = (3 x 10^8 m/s)(498 sec). i just don't know how to get from there to the answer being 1.5 x 10^11 m.

Tafari worked one summer on a ship that set weather buoys in the ocean. he watched how one of the buoys moved in the water. describe which parts of the wave would cause the buoy to bob up and down. which wave property determined how fast the buoys bobbed in the water? he observed that when the wind blew harder, the ocean waves were larger, and the buoys moved away from the ship. what effect, if any, did the waves have on how far the buoys moved? explain your answer.

A250-n box is at rest on a frictionless horizotal floor. then a person shoves the box with a non-zero force of magnitude p. which statement best describes the relationship betweeen p and the motion of the box after it was shoved? -the box will not move when p< 250n but otherwise will accelerate at a constant rate that is directly proportional to p - the box will begin moving at a speed that is directly proportional to p, then will gradually slow to a halt -the box will move with constant velocity at a speed that is directly proportional to p -box will accelerate across the floor at a constant rate that is directly proportional to p
