American scientists recently discovered a new star in the Southern Cross constellation, also known as the Crux. Even though the Southern Cross is the smallest of the 88 modern constellations, it is one of the most identifiable in the night sky. The American scientist who led the team, Mr. Cohen, said that the unknown star was discovered by accident as the team worked to gather information about Beta Crucis, the westernmost star in the constellation. The new star appears to be orbiting Beta Crucis once every 2,000 years. The glare from Beta Crucis is what until now has prevented scientists from knowing about the unknown star's existence. Surprisingly, the discovery might affect the flags of numerous countries, including New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, and Brazil, all of which depict the constellation. Even so, because the star is invisible to the naked eye, no country appears to be serious about altering its national symbol. 1 Why would someone most likely read this passage
