Thiaba is a woman from a rural area of east africa. when she visited america and viewed women "baking their heads in small ovens," she thought that americans were barbaric. she had never seen a woman sit under a hair dryer in her own country, so she used her own culture to judge american culture. thiaba was practicing:

Ethnocentrism is judging another culture exclusively by the qualities and gauges of one's own way of life. Ethnocentric people judge different gatherings in respect to their own particular ethnic gathering or culture, particularly with worry for dialect, conduct, traditions, and religion.
